Alumna founds event for media entrepreneurs

Kristin Luna, co-founder of KEEN Digital Summit

Travel writer and alumna Kristin Luna (JEM ’05) has a lot on her plate. Most recently, it was Nashville’s Music City Eats festival which she recapped on the Southern Living blog. Now, she is gearing up for the inaugural KEEN Digital Summit, a networking event she founded for digital media entrepreneurs.

KEEN, which stands for Keeping Entrepreneurs Engaged and Networking, will bring together journalists, publicists, editors, bloggers and Fortune 500 brands in Nashville, Tenn., Oct. 24-27, 2013.

Conference attendees will have access to a state-of-the-art expo floor while attending classes, panels and Q&As with top digital leaders in technology, family and entertainment, travel and lifestyle, and food and spirits.

“I wanted to provide the Southern market with the same value in terms of access to big brands and the opportunity to network with the right people,” says Luna, who moved back to Tennessee after living in New York and California, where she says conferences are a dime a dozen.

While experts will fly in from across the country, Luna says the event will have a distinct Southern feel and feature an equal number of innovative Tennessee companies, including HGTV and its parent company Scripps Networks Interactive.

“At its core, KEEN is a networking event, but it’s also a venue for entrepreneurs of all kinds—journalists and social media influencers included—to come and learn about valuable tools to expand their businesses,” says Luna.

Current students and 2012 graduates are eligible to attend with a Student Savings Pass for $149. For more information and a line-up of conference speakers, visit the KEEN Digital Summit website.
