Two years later: JEM Alumni receive Emmy nomination for Vietnam Veteran War documentary
Often times, moments in history are forgotten and so are the people in them. As journalists, it is our job to make sure the moments and people are remembered for years to come. And, that is just what two recent University of Tennessee graduates did as journalism and electronic media students.

JEM’s Land Grant Films Creates Veteran Documentaries for East Tennessee PBS
East Tennessee PBS will air five microdocumentaries on area veterans created by UT School of Journalism students, Land Grant Films, and UT’s WUOT-FM.
A release of the microdocumentaries began on Facebook and YouTube in late October. WUOT aired the audio versions October 29 through November 2 along with original content from interviews with East Tennessee veterans.
The microdocumentaries will be compiled into a half-hour show that airs on East Tennessee PBS at 4 p.m. Sunday, November 11, and 5 p.m. Sunday, November 18.

Students’ Documentary to Be Featured in Nashville Film Festival
The Nashville Film Festival has announced Welcome Home Brother, directed by School of Journalism and Electronic Media seniors Isaac Fowler and Tim Morris, as an official selection in its short documentary category.
The festival is an Academy Award–qualifying competition and received more than 6,000 entries for 2018.
Fowler and Morris’s eight-minute film documents the experiences of three Vietnam veterans as they find their voice in East Tennessee through the help of the Bill Robinson Chapter of the Vietnam Veterans Association.

Students to produce documentary for East Tenn. PBS
UT student filmmakers have been selected to create eight-minute documentaries relating to the Vietnam War through Landgrant Films.
The three short documentaries will come together in a half-hour program that will premiere in coordination with the release of Ken Burns’ new documentary, The Vietnam War, on East Tennessee PBS this September.
Isaac Ward, Jesse Tipton and Issac Fowler & Tim Morris will begin to create their submitted proposals over the summer.
